Overview
Problem Statement
Tekie has a part-time mentor force that needs to be available to take any demo/paid classes that happen on the platform. Due to the dynamic nature of the demand generated, it becomes difficult to ensure there is always an adequate supply of mentors. Our key problems are
- Demand > Supply: When there is a class to be taken but a mentor is not available. Tekie loses potential revenue
- Supply > Demand: When mentors are available, but demand is not present. Tekie loses MG amount in such cases
Proposed Work
We aim to reduce D>S scenarios by making sure to intimate mentors and teams beforehand on the projected supply. To make sure mentors are available when there is projected demand, we will take the following actions
- We will offer a minimum guarantee for mentors who open slots at a particular time.
- We will ask mentors to open slots once a week to be eligible for MG
- We will offer surge pricing when D>S
- We will broadcast D>S demand to mentors
- We will provide Mentor team leads with weekly targets of the required supply
We aim to reduce S>D scenarios by making sure that mentors are available or required only at the time of demand.
- We will limit the number of slots that mentors can open at a particular time, eligible for MG. This will be done by Mentor Supply Manager.
